Elissaios Stavrou, Geophysical Laboratory (GL) alumni, was appointed to staff member at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).  Stavrou was a visiting investigator at GL from 2011-2012 and a postdoctoral associate from 2012-2013.

He started at LLNL as a postdoctoral associate in September 2014 and was appointed Staff scientist in May 2016 with Indefinite (Career) appointment. The formal appointment is: Condensed Matter Physicist, Material Sciences Division. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  Congratulations, Elis!

Former Carnegie Summer Scholar at the Geophysical Laboratory, Viktor Rozsa, currently a graduate student at the University of Chicago, has been awarded a DOE-NNSA graduate fellowship.  During the summer of 2012, Viktor worked with Tim Strobel on hydrogen loading in β-hydroquinone at high pressure, studies that led to a publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters [V. Rozsa and T. Strobel, J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 5, 1880-1884 (2014)].  Viktor’s current research focuses on understanding hydrogen bonding at extreme conditions, both at the level of fundamental physics and in application to planetary sciences.  For more information on Victor’s award, follow this link.  Congratulations, Viktor!
