Enter the Broken Door

Enter the broken door
Out of the darkness shall we come searching
Where the dim candle waits with wavering flame
The whispered evening.
Light pours through the lattice slants
That bridge the broken gap
And dissipates like dust into the night.
Far out of the East shall I feel your warmth
And smell the tallow flickering with fire
And reach through the evening dusk
Your soft sad self.
And enter the broken door
Before the dawn can find us.
Enter the broken door
Where lost light lingers for our coming.
